At the present one faction of our government wants us to ally ourselves with other warrior races and another wants no alliances with any other species.
Negotiations progress slowly because of the split between those who would negotiate peacefully and the "actionist" faction who believe in direct confrontation.
Both factions agree on the premise that other species must not hinder Gorn expansion and fulfillment of their "Manifest Destiny", but they are split on how exactly we are to go about that expansion.
At this time our borders are closed, and we would not react kindly to unwelcome guests.
We will shortly be voting on whether or not to open diplomatic relations with other species. The Gorn respect strength, courage and dominance of the fittest. If we do decide to open our borders, these are the things we will look for in a potential ally.
